2008-2009 >>>>> Focus on Art

  • Caught in flow [External link] - Kantipur Online, 13/03
    On the occasion of World Water Day on March 22, I was happy to participate with artist friends from Bangladesh and Nepal in an art workshop, grabbing the opportunity to pass on an environmental message dear to my heart. The workshop was fun and a great learning experience, and the exhibition that followed attracted both visitors and the media.
  • Online articles have disappeared... - Various, 11/08
    Seven artists from three countries (Nepal, Bangladesh and France) exhibited their work in Kathmandu, and I was one of them... for the first time in my life. The press liked it enough to publish quite a lot of articles which I still need to scan.

  • UN Volunteers in Lao PDR rally funds to purchase books
    UNV website. Cet article existe aussi en français.
    A donation of clothes was sold and the cash obtained used to buy school books delivered to a remote and needy school in the mountains. This was a direct response to a priority issue for the villagers.
  • Art and Dance on Show [pdf 550kb] - Vientiane Times, 24/07
    We all had fun organising this successful art event that combined visual arts by Lao and French artists and, traditional Lao dancing. Many visitors came and the evening lasted much longer than expected!
  • Art puts colour into dull lives [pdf 660kb] - Vientiane Times, 17/05
    The first "Colours of Hope" art workshop for disadvantaged children was organised with funds from the M.A.S.K Group of artists following the March exhibition and opening. The workshop was a success and was followed by an exhibition of the artpieces produced.
  • [FRA] De Jeunes Laotiennes Découvrent l'Art à la Maison de la Culture de Ban Naxay [pdf 1,170kb] - Le Rénovateur, 17/05
    Le premier atelier d'art pour enfants défavorisés intitulé Couleurs de l'Espoir fut organisé avec des fonds résultants de l'exposition d'ouverture de mars. L'atelier fut un succès et une petite expo des oeuvres réalisées a suivi.
  • [FRA] Exposition de peintures à la Maison de la Culture et du Patrimoine [pdf 760kb] - Le Rénovateur, 29/03
    La première grande expo qui a servi de vernissage à la galerie elle-même. La période de préparation fut effervescente. L'évènement se révéla un immense succès ce qui permit au groupe peu après de proposer les premiers ateliers artistiques pour enfants défavorisés.

  • International Volunteers Day (IVD) celebrated [pdf 315kb] - Vientiane Times, 14/12
    Coordinating the promotion of volunteerism through the sponsoring of volunteer-run activities was an exciting and enriching experience. Five different community-based events took place in various parts of the country providing local communities with some forms of edutainment. Fun activities had to target at least one MDG.
  • Volunteer-run school opens new library [pdf 121kb] - Vientiane Times, 12/07
    As head of UNV Laos, I officially opened the library/community hall built on the Wat Phosay grounds with the financial assistance of UNV for the volunteer-run Sunday school that operates there.

  • French language manual for tour guides [pdf 320kb] - Kuensel, 09/10
    Launch of the first French language manual specifically designed for the actors of the tourism industry in Bhutan which I could publish with the financial support of the Department of Tourism.
  • An Exhibition of French Comics [pdf 260kb] - Kuensel, 14/08
    With the financial support of UNICEF and VAST hosting I could run this first comics exhibition in Bhutan. One week, free entry, open to all.
