Asia had always been high on my wish list and I have lived in the region since 2000. I love the Himalayan region, the cultures and peoples. Nepal cast a spell on me and Bhutan has a special place in my heart. I also lived in Laos and crossed often into neighboring countries in lovely south east Asia. I then moved to Afghanistan, an interesting and challenging place before returning to Nepal.
I was born in Europe, travelled and temporarily settled mainly in Germanic countries. The travel bug got me early and since then I have never stopped too long anywhere.
During my one year in the US on the East Coast, I did some traveling around and in the south, but I was never cut out for US life.
While Latin America is unkown territory, I went to the northern part of South America which is actually closer in culture and feel to the Caribbean. Surinam has left an indelible impression...
One short mission in Africa gave me the chance to experience Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, and to spend one day in a small village. What marked me most was the warmth of the people.
