THINKERS AND DOERS

PAINTERS - INDIVIDUAL ARTISTS

To Painters page This page is dedicated to artist friends, not only because they are friends but also because I like their work. They are all different in personality, style, artistic maturity and recognition, but all share a deep passion for art, and their passion can be contagious.
The ones I admire most however, are those supporting and encouraging artistic expression among people for whom art is an unknown territory.

  • Kama Wangdi - Bhutan
The co-founder of the VAST Group in Bhutan, Asha is also an immensely talended artist I admire for many reasons besides his artwork. He introduced the concept of contemporary art in a country where art was confined to the religious sphere, and he supports and mentors young artists in his country.

  • Xecon Jasim Uddin - Bangladesh
Besides his lovely, warm and generous personality, Xecon is also an extremely talented artist specialised in Oriental Art. He is the one who encouraged me to be part of the art group exhibition he initiated in Kathmandu in 2008 at the same time as his first solo exhibition.
  • Kongpath Luangrath - Laos
Co-founder of the MASK Group and Gallery in Vientiane, Laos, Kongpath is also one of the precursors of contemporary painting in his country. Kongpath has a compassionate approach towards bringing art to the community. With him and other local artists we ran successful and enjoyable art workshops for disadvantaged children in 2006.

  • Krishna Thing - Nepal
Krishna studied traditional Tangka painting for many years in Nepal. He now merges these tradional art techniques and concepts with his own modern visions. Krishna successfully held his first solo exhibition in Kathmandu in January 2009. A pleasure for the eyes.

In 2008-2009 she was concentrating on portaits of women from these areas and on their jeweled headwear.

  • Bruno le Matelot - France/Laos
I love Bruno's colourful comics style. I met him in Vientiane where he teaches Art and now runs successful art exhibitions. He also draws attractive maps of Laos capital city in his own friendly style.

  • Ashmina Ranjit- Nepal
Ashmina is a well-known figure on the Nepal contemporary art scene. A strong feminist, Ashmina's paintings, installation arts and art performances revolve around this theme. Sometimes disturbing, amazing, or beautiful, her art doesn't leave anyone indifferent.
